Français : "Fils aîné de François de Lorraine, empereur germanique, et de Marie-Thérèse d’Autriche, il fut élu empereur à la mort de son père, en 1765 et hérita des possessions héréditaires des Habsbourgs à la mort de sa mère, en 1780. Il était le frère de Marie-Antoinette.Ce tableau est entré au musée comme portrait du duc d'Enghien. Pour étayer cette identification, les décorations que portait le jeune prince (notamment la Toison d'or) avaient été grattées." [1]
